A Trip Report - Denmark, Sweden, and Norway August 17 to September 7, 2010

 Common Murre

Common Murres (Uria aalge) - Stockholm, Sweden

A three-week trip to the countries of Denmark, Sweden, and Norway during the end of summer. There were far fewer bird species than I expected and many of the species that were seen, like the Pied Wagtail, the Carrion Crow, and the Black-headed Gull were seen often. We rode on a variety of trains past verdent scenes of trees, fields, and lakes, large and small, but I did not see many birds in those areas.

I am using the American names for those species that are found in the United States and Scandinavia such as the Mew Gull (Common Gull, in the European field guides) and Common Merganser (Goosander, in the European field guides).

The Common Murres were seen within the harbor water of Stockholm, Sweden, during a boat tour of the waterway. All of the insect pictures were done while Karen and I visited the Park in Oslo Norway. I was very surprised to see the number of jellyfish that we did in the harbor at Stavanger, Norway.
